This particular job required us to renovate only a portion of this client’s flooring system. Our client had a wooden section of the space that they wanted to retain in its original condition. This required our teams to be careful and not damage or stain these wooden floors in our installation process.

We install the Vinyl Chip System designed and developed by Penntek Industrial Coatings. This flooring system combined the technology of Polyurea materials with the beauty of colored Vinyl Chips. Our floors are backed by a 15-year Residential Warranty and a 5-year Commercial Warranty!

We have 13 pre-selected colors to choose from but can customize any color pattern due to our colored Vinyl Chip Flake system. This project entailed us removing an old epoxy floor coating from a Restaurant and their Commercial Kitchen. As you can see here, this epoxy floor was very resilient and difficult to remove. It took a lot of work to grind, sand down and etch the old epoxy floor away to expose a fresh layer of concrete.
Replacing a Failed Epoxy Floor System
It’s not uncommon for us to receive phone calls and emails from clients with failing epoxy floor systems. Oftentimes homeowners or commercial facilities will try to install a D-I-Y epoxy floor that lasts for only a few years. Eventually (and often due to incorrect prep work) these epoxy floor systems fail and leave you with a nasty paint that you can’t get rid of.
That’s when they call us. Our teams are specially trained to remove old epoxy floor coatings and to install our premier Vinyl Chip Flake system. Removing these aged epoxy floor coatings is no easy task – as you can see from our images. Oftentimes it requires rigorous grinding, sanding and acid washing to remove these stubborn materials.
However, once we successfully grind down to the concrete we are able to install a beautiful floor designed to last for years to come!
Our client selected a custom Vinyl Chip color for this Restaurant & Commercial Kitchen. These floors now reflect a beautiful blue, white and black ambiance that shines all throughout their facility! They are also tough and will hold up against stains, grease, abrasions and a multitude of other abuses – all of which Commercial kitchens are bound to sustain.
Custom Color Selection
For this particular job site, we installed a custom selection of Vinyl Chip Flakes. This Wichita Falls restaurant selected a blend of blue, white and black chip flakes.
As with all of our other projects we can create any assortment of colors that you desire! It’s part of the beauty of our product line and an aspect that our clients love!
Designing Our Floors to Last
So what exactly makes our industrial floor coatings so tough? Well, for starters – it’s the material makeup and our multi-layer system. As you can see from the image below, our floors are comprised of multiple layers including:
One key element that is not represented in this product image is prep-work! Our crews spend a lot of time prepping our concrete so that it properly bonds and adheres to our Polyurea base coat.
We take the time to thoroughly grind down the top layer of concrete (or remove an old flooring system) and vacuum away any loose debris. It is a time consuming process that requires a commercial concrete buffer (which we have).
Exposing a fresh layer of concrete allows our system to properly bond to any residential or commercial floors. This creates a lasting product that you’ll enjoy for years to come!

1 Day Coatings was recently contacted by a Commercial Facility that needed their floors remodeled. We were happy to meet with this client and see what we could do for them. As you can see from the image (below), this client started out with basic concrete floors and desired to upgrade to our protective Penntek Floor Coatings system.
This facility required a flooring system that could withstand heavy foot traffic and resistance to abrasions. Our 1 Day Coatings system is easily able to stand up to the challenge and provide the necessary protection that our client desired.

Overview of Our Installation: Prepping the Concrete
Our teams always follow the same procedure when installing our 1 Day Coatings system. For starters, we buff the floor using our floor commercial grinder to remove the top layer of concrete. Typically this top layer is aged & pitted with dust; therefore it is unable to adhere to any flooring applications. We grind this top layer of concrete to create a “fresh” layer of concrete for our product to adhere to.
Secondly, we vacuum the floors to suck up and remove any lose debris or dust. Additionally, we round the corners between our floors and walls – so our installation has a smooth finish. This is also a good technique for keeping moisture out of joints between the walls and floors.
Lastly, for this job, we used painters tape to create our frame work for the application of our Vinyl Chip System.

Once again, 1 Day Coatings is hard at work installing another beautiful floor coating system. This time, we are installing our premier Vinyl Chip System in Tarrant County. Our client is the owner of a newly developed warehouse and selected our product to protect their floors for years to come.
Despite the large space, our crews were able to get in, prep our work space and install our quality 1 Day Coatings system in just one day.
This Slate Stone is the color our client chose for their new 1 Day Coatings installation.
Color of Vinyl Chips: Slate Stone
For this particular job, our client selected the Slate Stone color from our pre-assorted color options. This is a beautiful gray finish that blends grays, blacks and whites to create a stunning layout for garages or any floor space.

Here you can see our freshly sanded concrete floors. We’ve utilized a commercial sander and shop vac to prep and clean our job site for our Vinyl Chip System.
Fresh Concrete – Sanding Things Down
As with any new 1 Day Coatings installation, half the effort involves “prepping” our work space prior to the actual application. As you can see from the images above, our crews utilize some commercial sanding equipment to remove the top layer of concrete. This includes dust, rough edges and old material. We remove this top layer of concrete in order to expose the fresh, smooth finish beneath it.
By exposing a fresh layer of concrete, we are creating a layer that bonds to our Polyurea Base Coat. In layman terms, our Polyurea Base Coat is the “glue” between your freshly exposed concrete and our Vinyl Chip Flakes. This is a crucial step in our installation process; therefore, we take the necessary time to properly prep our space for a successful installation.
Here you can see our concrete formed drain – located right in the middle of this warehouse flooring. This is designed to remove any water from this space.
Digging and Setting Our Drainage Trench
For those who are new here, 1 Day Coatings is a subsidiary of our Advocate Construction division. Under the guidance of Nathan Moore (our owner) we installed a set of channel drains inside this warehouse space. These drains are formed out of concrete and collect our water to help with moisture control and water removal.
This is a small step but speaks volumes about our desire and ability to get the job done right. We have the ability to construct new garages, repair foundations, create drainage systems and much more. All of this is so we can deliver exceptional value to our clients and provide a “one stop shop” for all of our clients needs.
